Between Romeo and Juliet, whose love do you think is more passionate and intense?
Answer:
Though Romeo and Juliet belonged to rival families their love is as immense. It is difficult to say whose love is more intense because we can not discriminate the lover’s love for each other. But I think Juliet’s love is more intense because for girls it is difficult to love when they are from rival families. Though Juliet knew this, she did not fear her family, she knows that if her family were to know about their love, definitely Romeo and Juliet would be killed. But she did not fear and she says if she is killed her beloved would be cut into little stars to glitter in the sky and make the sky brigthter than day. This is the evidence to justify that her love is more intense than Romeo’s. She says that Romeo would be brighter than day and if he becomes stars the world would definitely forget to worship the Sun. In this way, her love made his death immortal and his life and her love permanent on the earth.

Why does the villagers decide that they should not underrate the power of the ballot paper?
Ans.
‘A book goes beyond its author’s intention’. Do you agree in the lesson “I Believe that books will never disappear”.
Ans.
A book goes beyond author’s intention. In every there is a need for something more, which is always mysterious. Borges exemplify, when we read an ancient book we feel as though we were reading all time that has passed from the day it was written to our present day.
A book can be full of errors, we can reject its author’s opinions, disagree with him or her but the book always retains something sacred, something mortal and something magical which brings happiness. Borges quotes Bernard Shaw, ‘Every book worth being re – read has been written by spirit’. Thus he feels that when we read a book, what matters is not the author’s intention but what sense a reader get out of it.

Why does the villagers decide that they should not underrate the power of the ballot paper?
Ans.
In the short story, 'The Voter', Chinua Achebe makes an attempt to present before the reader how ‘elections’ are misused by greedy politicians for their benefits instead of bringing about improvement in the life of the people.
The people of Umuofia vote en masse in favour of the People’s Alliance Party and elect Marcus Ibe as their leader. Once getting elected, people see a great many changes in Marcus’ life. He becomes wealthy, is awarded chieftaincy titles and doctorate degrees, besides many other honours. He also builds a huge mansion in his native village and names it ‘Umuofia Mansions’. He spends most of his time in the capital and comes back to stay in his village mansion sometimes.
The villagers do not have running water and electricity, but he gets a private plant installed in his village to supply electricity to his new house. To top it all, his new house is opened by the Archbishop. On the day the new house is opened, he hosts a grand dinner to all the people of his village, slaughtering five bulls and countless goats. The common people realize that winning an election can change an ordinary mission school teacher into a wealthy and powerful man. They also know that it is their ballot which has given him all those benefits. They recall that they had given their votes free of charge five years ago. They realize that they had underrated the power of the ballot paper and should not do so again. That is why, in the second election, they demand money for their votes.

Comment on the usage of time frame by the poet in the poem “When You Are Old”.
Ans.
‘When You Are Old’ is a short love poem in which the poet uses a time frame in which the speaker addresses his lady love in the present, takes her to an unreal condition in the future, and asks her to recall her past memories. He does so, in order to persuade her or warn her not to ignore him and make a wrong decision.
The poet calls upon the woman to recall the days he was in her life and very much in love with her. Obviously, he wants her to remember him for his unique and unconditional love for her, and how she is choosing to ignore it in the present. By reading this poem the poet hopes that she will remember the days of her youth. She will grow regretful that she ignored his love.
The woman, in the present will see what an opportunity she is missing by ignoring his love for her and leaving him to fade into the past. The speaker fears that his lady love will not act upon his love for her and that she will only remember him in the book of memories. He hopes that she will feel sorry that she did not foresee how true his love was but how foolish she was for taking no notice of it. He is already fearful that she will grow old without him, and this can be seen as he requests that she remember him a ‘little sadly’ and as a missed chance to have a happy future.
It is the time frame that the poet has used in this poem that facilitates the poet to write this sad and reminiscent poem which is not designed primarily to make an old woman regretful, but to keep a young woman from ignoring the narrator and making the wrong decision.

Sports, whether indoor or outdoor, are equally good for a student. Outdoor games tone up the muscles and keep them fit whereas indoor games sharpen the mind. Sports plays very important role in our life and hence should be made an integral part of our day-to-day activities. It is a known fact that a sportsman gets name and fame in the society. And even i some reservations are there for sportsmen in public and private sectors. So they can claim their reservations and get a job easily. So I request all of you my dear friends to participate very actively in sports and get ourselves an all round development.

Answer:
A survey was conducted by the Delhi based NGO (Centre for Media Studies) to know how voters are bribed during elections. It is a open secret that all the politicians in India bribe the voters to get votes in their favour. The graph indicates the extent to which it is being practiced in various states in India. It was found that Karnataka stood in the first place i.e 47%. of voters were bribed and Tamilnadu followed with about 34%, Madhya Pradesh 33%, Andhra Pradesh 31%, Orissa 27%, other states like Delhi 25%, Uttar Pradesh 18% and Maharastra 13% respectively. The survey revealed that we can find Karnataka as the most corrupted state and Maharastra as the least one. It is very clear that money plays is a very important role during the polling and the people who have enough money, would get power in their hands.
